Elevation Earthworks, founded in 2019 by Hunter Whiting, is a Vail Valley-based company. Later on, Derek Whiting joined as partner, making them a father-and-son team. Together they are committed to elevating outdoor construction standards through premium craftsmanship and efficient project delivery. Specializing in custom patios, retaining walls, and full outdoor living spaces, the company blends practical construction expertise with refined design to create durable, high-end results tailored to Colorado’s mountain environment.

Hunter is the founder, CEO, and Director of Operations at Elevation Earthworks and a U.S. military veteran. During his service in the Army, he specialized in heavy equipment operation, developing strong technical skills in efficiency and precision. After his military career, he gained several years of experience in the landscaping industry, where he refined his ability to execute high-quality work at a fast and consistent pace. He moved to the Vail area in 2016, where he coaches freeride skiing for the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. He later founded Elevation Earthworks to combine his operational expertise with a commitment to delivering exceptional craftsmanship efficiently.

Derek is the CEO and Director of Design at Elevation Earthworks and co-owner of Vail Brewing Company. A U.S. military veteran originally from Maine, he grew up around the forestry industry, gaining early exposure to land management and outdoor environments that helped shape his design perspective. He approaches every project with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and personally develops his concepts through hand-drawn designs. Derek currently lives in Edwards, Colorado with his wife and daughter.
